Tzepesh Mode

On this blog, after the image there's usually a song or even several. Sometimes there isn't even an image, it's just the song. But this time the album really is that bad. I couldn't pick a song. Blips and chirps one on top of the other, not one single memorable tune to hum along. It's pop gone bad (and I was living under the impression that that is a redundancy). Martin had a run for it with "Jezebel", but if you take away the voice that's just plain elevator music, fucking muzak. I think that on modern synthesizers that kind of music is predefined. No wonder "wrong" is the first and hopefully only) single on this album: it's the one song that actually walks like John Wayne. This should have been the title of the album, in fact. Speaking of which: "sounds of the universe"? What's this, a tai-chi compilation? Tantra soundtrack?
And don't even get me started on the album cover. They were never outstanding in the visual department (album covers, band photos, videos etc), but this? Is that made in Paint? Excel? I swear, this cover would have been...swallowable if it only contained the circle in the middle. But Maroco sticks now? Is that "just in"? Oh, silly me, those are the sounds and that's the universe. Could you be more vague?

You know what? I love DM, I love Dave, Martin, Andy, I loved the way Dave jumped around backstage before the show on the "one night in paris" dvd (not the paris hillton oscar performance), I love the way he looks like the stage is his home, I love how he can play a crowd, the inside jokes with Martin, the whole thing. But this time it really looks like he needs to fall off the wagon, and badly.
