A BLAST FROM THE PRESENT

11 years, man. I used to listen to Suck On This obssesively back then. "Everybody say: Larry, you're a bastard!" - "LARRY YOU'RE A BASTARD!!!" Ah, good times. Well no, actually I was a miserable fuck back then. Now I'm just miserable, fuck is out of the question. No, I'm not miserable, I'm....how the hell did we get to me?

So, yeah, anyway: Primus, new album. I've listened to it more than a couple of times. That's how I do it. I listen to the new album, not too focused really, and wait for one track to stick out. They usually do. Like, for instance, "Somebody that I used to know" stuck out immediatly, like an honest smile on Madonna's face or a good line in a Killers song. It just popped out there. And only after I'd put the song up here I saw that it was actually the first single from the album, had a video and everything. So it works, you see.

I've listened to Green Naugahyde till my ears went sore. And guess what? You're not gonna believe this: it sounds like Primus! I swear to god, it sounds EXACTLY like Primus. It's like 11 years ago was yesterday, like not one day had passed, as if time froze and caught Les mid-sneeze. This album could have easily been released in '94, somewhere between Pork Soda and Tales from the Punchbowl, or even earlier. At some point they seemed ready to change gears and style (Southbound Pachyderm, Eclectic Electric), but then they changed their minds instead. So there.
