When I first saw the title and its 21st century spelling, I thought this was going to be a Grinderman song, really, something veiny and pointy and venomous like "Heathen Child" or "Evil" or "No Pussy Blues". I thought Nick was gonna tenderly run a stake through the heart of today's bloodsucking youth.
But no, this is indeed a Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds song - a melancholic, hopeless, quiet little anthem.
So then I am confused, why the shitty spelling?

Anyway, more on Nick Cave's new album "Push The Sky Away" and its surprising cover later, when I will have received the insanely expensive super deluxe box set from nickcave.com. I get insane like that sometimes, music goodies and memorabilia are for me like chocolate cat-shaped shoes are for single women.

A RAY IN THE CAVE

As it is rarely mentioned on the web, this is a Nick Cave cover, motherfuckers. A good one, I admit, but a cover. Yes? Good.

That being said, I must also say this: I'm getting a little tired of this particular voice that Karin seems to enjoy so damn much. It's all over her album and here it is again. Gene Ween could do 10 more voices with NO technical aid whatsoever, so c'mon, get over it already.

That being said as well, I feel compelled to also state that my cat started vomiting today and hasn't been eating much lately, a fact that really ticks me off precisely because it has nothing to do with this song whatsoever. I mean, where's the justice?

Other than that, the song is fine, keeps the mood of the original, the video is quite..errr..green and, well, all in all, everybody's happy with the result, I think we can all agree.

But if I see one more girlie praising Nouvelle Vague for their beautiful, beautiful song "Bela Lugosi's dead", I'm gonna kick that poodle bimbo straight in her tiny tits, I swear. Cover! Frivolous, silly, empty cover.

Same goes for this song, although this is a much, much better cover. Nevertheless.

ONLY THE LONELY

Well, I didn't see this one coming: Nick Cave and UNKLE together. Who'd have thought a Monday morning could start this nicely? The track is taken from UNKLE's new EP, Only The Lonely, out now.

I don't care what you Kings of Leon yuppies and hipsters have to say about Nick Cave, but this ain't no "old-fart" video. This guy gets younger by the album.
I guess Grinderman is Nick's padded room, the one where he gets to throw shit on the walls, bang his skull and eat flies without contradicting the more patriarchal, wise side of his personality reflected in the Bad Seeds. I don't see how this video could have been part of any Bad Seeds album. Not even Murder Ballads.
Oh wait. Judging by the "Babe, I'm on fire" video, this one is actually no big surprise., they go very well together. Oh, fuck it, just watch it already and see for yourselves.
